Label Your Laptop To Help Theft Recovery

Asset tagging is an essential procedure for any business, no matter how small or big. However, people don’t realise the importance of asset tagging and how it can help speed up recovery if the laptop is ever stolen.

Placing a unique label under the base of a laptop is for both business and home users as it allows you to easily identify your property, even after theft. Everyone will have their own method in asset tagging a laptop but we recommend making the unique identifier look as if its part of the manufacture labelling. For example, having a label state ‘property of company a’ or ‘property of the Doe family’ is more likely to be removed a thief than a something labelled X186789D2

So what use is there labelling a laptop?

If your laptop is stolen it should be reported to your local police department along with all the relevant details such as product manufacture, product number, serial number and the unique label you had attached.

Most thieves know better than not to remove serial numbers from the goods they stole. Hopefully though, they will be none the wiser about your own unique label and that its part of your procedures for laptop security.
