I have relied on free anti-virus products for a while (AVG and more recently, Microsoft Security Essentials). This product confirmed that I had made a good choice.
Install was fine.
I found the user-interface and options very cluttered and confusing. I have a very simple setup (i.e. one laptop) and yet, I was bombarded with options which I’m not sure I understand.
Once installed, it did its job: downloading updates, scanning etc and I didn’t contract any virus, but it is not clear to me what the value add is over basic anti-virus protection products that are out there.
For a simple setup, it behaved as advertised, but I’ll likely switch back to a free option once my license is up.
the company was very nice by sending it to me early and i installed fine with no trouble at all!and also it was a great price for it too!
McAfee Internet Security 3-User 2010 provides a solid protective suite. It’s easy to install and it has been running seamlessly on my computers so far. I find it’s not intrusive and a much better program than the version of McAfee I used to get gratis from my ISP. I also like the extra feature it offers as an option to check at any time on the safety credentials of a website one may be visiting. This McAfee software is also a little less expensive than its Norton rival, and as far as I can tell it does just as good a job of giving protection from malware.
Though faster and obviously more optimized than its predecessor, it’s got its pitfalls with slowing my systems down. I installed it on my desktop, laptop, and a netbook (all running Windows 7). Outside of the speed issues (which are a *big* deal to me), it works about as good as any other anti-virus I’ve tried. Personally, Avast is the product I keep turning to. McAfee has a good product going here, but not good enough for me to switch.
Overall, good protection and good with notifying the user of updates, issues, etc., but very process-intensive. I say seek elsewhere for your anti-virus needs.
The new 2010 version is ok but the new interface pages are more confusing than the 2009 version.
Harder to navigate through.
It’s still an inexpensive way to protect your computer.
